Two years after the Intensity II, Verizon launches the Samsung Intensity III rugged QWERTY messaging phone for users with an active lifestyle. The phone has a durable and rugged design and meets Military Specifications 810F standards for shock, low pressure (altitude), low and high temperature, temperature shock, solar radiation, salt fog, humidity, vibration, sand and dust. It features a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard for quick text input.
The new Intensity features a 2.4-inch 240×320 screen, a 2 Megapixel camera with night shot, shooting modes and effects, Bluetooth, microSD card slot and GPS with VZ Navigator for audible turn-by-turn directions. The handset includes fake call feature and voice commands. It also comes with enhanced social networking capabilities for making status updates on Facebook and Twitter.
The rugged device is also eco-friendly. According to Samsung, the Intensity III is made from 80 percent post-consumer materials, including recycled plastic extracted from water bottles or other recycled polycarbonate materials, and the reduced-size packaging is made from recycled paper and printed with soy ink. The phone is available for $79.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract.
