AT&T releases the eco-friendly Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate (SGH-I577), which is the carrier’s first LTE smartphone to obtain Environmentally Preferable UL Platinum certification. First announced back in January as Exhilarate, Samsung decided to add the Galaxy branding. It is available for $49.99 with a 2-year contract. According to Samsung, the handset housing is made with 80% recycled material, and it comes with a energy-efficient charger that alerts you to unplug the device when it’s charged.
Powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM, the Exhilarate runs, instead of the latest Android 4.0, Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface. It features a 4-inch 800×480 Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel main camera with 720p video recording and a 1.3 Megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. The LTE phone comes with 4GB ROM and supports microSD/SDHC up to 32GB. It supports Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi connectivity.
Available on AT&T, the Galaxy Exhilarate LTE MIMO Band 4/17, quad-band HSPA+ 21 as well as quad-band GSM/EDGE networks.
