Along with the waterproof Hydro, Kyocera also brings the Rise C5155 to the CTIA Wireless 2012, which is a smartphone with slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Except for the keyboard and form factor, the Rise is almost identical to the Hydro, though it is not waterproof. It sports the same Qualcomm MSM8655 SnapDragon 1GHz processor and also gets 512MB RAM and 2GB ROM.

In addition to the keyboard, the Rise has a  3.5-inch 480×320 IPS LCD touchscreen, 3.2 Megapixel camera with LED flash. It supports Bluetooth and WiFi with Mobile Hotspot, and CDMA EV-DO Rev A and 1X Advanced mobile networks. The handset has a microSD card slot for expansion and a USB 2.0 port for PC connection and charging. Other features include 3-axis accelerometers, digital compasses, proximity sensors, and ambient light sensors.

The Rise runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and is pre-loaded with Swype keyboard and Kyocera’s Eco Mode software to monitor and conserve battery power. The QWERTY phone measures 4.44 x 2.38 x 0.56 inch and weighs 5.54oz. As it supports only CDMA network, it will probably be carried by either Sprint or Verizon.
