Micron Technology, that flash memory maker that is also Crucial and Lexar, introduces the Pop Video, a pico projector for iPhone and iPod touch. Instead of running cables, the projector has integrated 30pin dock connector to connect directly to iPhone and iPod touch, making sharing photos, videos easy. Based on LCoS technology, the Pop Video delivers 960×540 qHD video resolution and it uses LED light source. The optimal projection range is between 13 and 130 cm.
Instead of mirroring you iPhone or iPod touch, the pico projector has to be used with the free Pop Video app, in which you can choose to show iTunes or iTunes U videos, photo album, web browser, facebook, YouTube. That say you just can’t Angry Bird Space on your wall. The app also lets you adjust projection settings such as colors, brightness; and it can auto-adjust your portrait photos to fill the entire projected image. The Pop Video works with iPhone 4/4S/3GS and iPod touch 3rd gen and 4th gen running iOS 5.0 or above. (According to the FAQ page, the projector actually works with iPad as well.) Its built-in Lithium-ion rechargeable battery offers up to 2 hours of playtime, and can be fast-charged in about 4 hours (via micro USB port).
Micron’s Pop Video is affordably priced at $99.
