HP announced its new Z1, the world’s first all-in workstation with a 27-inch display. Built for computer-aided design, digital media and entertainment professionals, the Z1 is built to deliver workstation-class graphics performance in an all-in-one form factor. It features a sleek industrial design and an all-in-one design that allows users to add hard drive, upgrade memory, access the graphics card and swapping parts easily by snapping open the chassis.

Powered by Intel’s Core or Xeon E3 processor, the Z1 sports professional NVIDIA Quadro graphics cards (choices of entry-level Q500M, midrange Q1000M/Q3000M and high-end Q400M) and up to 32GB of DDR3 memory with four memory slots. It can be equipped with 3.5-inch 7200RPM hard drive or 2.5-inch SATA 10K hard drive or SATA SSD for storage.

The HP Z1 all-in-one comes with a 27-inch LED-backlit IPS display with 2560×1440 resolution, and provides DisplayPort for adding external display. You can also find a 2 Megapixel Full HD webcam, a SRS Premium Sound with dual-cone front-facing stereo speakers, USB 3.0 connectors, Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth and WiFi 802.11b/g/n. Though an all-in-one, the Z1 is expandable with one PCIe x16 slot, three mini PCIe slots, up to two 2.5-inch drive bay and one 3.5-inch drive bay.

The HP Z1 workstation can be loaded with choices of Windows 7, SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 or HP Linux Installer Kit. Coming in April, it starts at $1899.
