Canon introduces two new long-zoom digital cameras, the PowerShot SX260 HS and the PowerShot SX240 HS. Both have a sleek and compact design, yet packs Canon’s 25mm wide angle 20x optical zoom lens with 4-stop optical Image Stabilizer. According to Canon, the new models are its slimmest 20x zoom camera. The SX260 comes with built-in GPS chip for tagging each picture with the local time and location it was taken automatically. The Map Utility software also lets you to view your journey on Google Maps.
Featuring the HS SYSTEM, the SX260 HS and SX240 HS deliver improved low-light shooting with a 12.1 Megapixel CMOS image sensor and DIGIC 5 image processor, and the new Intelligent IS technology. The new PowerShot cameras can freeze fast-paced action with High-speed Burst HQ, shooting full-resolution images at 10.3 shots/sec, or slow the pace right down with 240fps Super Slow Motion Movie. The SX260 and SX240 also include Smart Auto mode that detects up to 58 scenes for optimum settings, Face Identification (Face ID) function that will adjust focus and exposure priority based on pre-registered faces. The Creative Filters in the cameras allows you to add creative touches to your images.’
Canon’s SX260 HS and SX240 HS support Full HD 1080p video recording with stereo sound. They have a 3-ich PureColor II G LCd display with a tempered glass layer for improved viewing and protection. There are also mini HDMI video output for you to share your memories on a HDTV. Canon will release the PowerShot SX260 HS in March for $349.99 in black, green and red. The PowerShot SX240 HS will be released in Europe and other markets in red, white and black.
