Verizon and Motorola are launching another DROID smartphone, the Motorola DROID 4, which is the thinnest and most powerful 4G LTE QWERTY smartphone. Like its predecessors (DROID, DROID 2, DROID 3), Motorola’s new Android device packs a QWERTY keyboard in a slim body. The DROID 4 adds support for Verizon’s 4G LTE mobile network for high-speed data.
The Motorola DROID 4 is powered by a dual-core 1.2Ghz processor and 1GB of RAM. It sports a 4-inch qHD touchscreen with scratch and scrape resistant glass, and its five-row QWERTY keyboard features a PC-like layout and edge-lit keys for fast, precise typing, even in the dark. Other than 1GB internal memory, the QWERTY phone supports microSD/SDHC up to 32GB. The 8 Megapixel rear camera is capable of 1080p Full HD video recording, and there is a 1.3 Megapixel front-facing camera with 720p video recording. HDMI output is included for mirroring 1080p video on HDTV.
The DROID 4 supports GPS/AGPS, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi connectivity and works on CDMA 800/1900, LTE Band 13 mobile networks. Other features include FM radio, eCompass, 3.5mm jack, micro USB port, and 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot function supporting up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices. The phone is also Business Ready with government-grade encryption (FIPS 140-2) for email, calendar and contacts; preloaded Citrix Receiver for Android (available in webtop) for desktop virtualization and access.
Verizon Wireless will release the Motorola DROID 4 soon.
