Other than the G-DRIVE mobile/USB, Hitachi’s G-Technology also introduces then new G-RAID and G-DRIVE storage solutions based on Hitachi’s new 4TB, 7,200 RPM Deskstar 7K4000 hard drive. The 4TB Deskstar drive uses 6Gbps SATA interface and has 64MB cache buffer. Both G-RAID and G-DRIVE have 3Gbps eSATA, FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 ports, and come with an all-aluminum enclosure. They are pre-formatted for Mac OS X system and are Time Machine Ready.


The G-RAID is a dual-drive RAID i storage device with up to 8TB capacity. It can deliver up to 200MB/s transfer rate when connected to any Mac or PC via eSATA, making it able to handle simultaneous playback of multiple layers of HDV, DVCPRO HD, XDCAM HD and ProRes 422 HQ with the leading video editing applications such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere. The G-RAID has soft-touch On/Off switch and thermo-regulated “smart” fan for stable, cool and quite operation.

On the other hand, the new G-DRIVE is a professional external hard drive with single hard drive. It has up to 4TB capacity and is ideal for intensive applications including A/V editing, digital photography, music libraries, and high-speed data backup. The fanless drive offers a cool and quiet operation.

Both drives will be released in Q1. The G-Technology G-RAID will be available in for $899.99 for 8TB, and the G-DRIVE will be priced at $449.99 for 4TB, $349.99 for 3TB, $249.99 for 2TB and $199.99 for 1TB.
