T-Mobile is launching in October the new HTC Amaze 4G (aka HTC Ruby) Android smartphone that will be the carrier’s first smartphone to take advantage of T-Mobile’s faster 4G (HSPA+ 42) network. The new phone is powered by Qualcomm’s SnapDragon S3 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS with HTC Sense.
The HTC Amaze 4G features a 8 Megapixel camera with 1080p video recording capability, backside illuminated sensor and dual LED flash. It has a dedicated Instant On button and offers SmartShot that captures five photos and creates the best shot using clear faces with smiles and no blinking; Burst Shot that capture 5 consecutive shots with just one click; SweepShot panorama for taking ultrawide shots; ClearShot HDR; and Perfect Pics that analyzes and scores your photos then groups the best ones for easy sharing.
The Amaze 4G sports a 4.3-inch qHD 540 x 960 capacitive touchscreen, a 2 Megapixel front-facing camera for video chat, GPS/AGPS support, Bluetooth, FM radio and WiFi 802.11. It supports NFC as well. The device comes with SRS Virtual Surround Sound Wired for headphones and offers HDMI output. You can expect 16GB internal memory and a microSD/SDHC card slot.
Coming in 10 October, the HTC Amaze 4G is priced at $259.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate card with a two-year service agreement.
