AMD announced the Radeon HD6990M, the world’s fastest single mobile graphics processor designed to deliver massive computing power to mobile users. According to AMD, the new HD6990M is 25% faster than
any other announced notebook enthusiast GPU. With support for AMD CrossFireX technology, hardcore gamers can experience additional gaming performance.
The Radeon HD6990M is based on TeraScale 2 Unified Processing Architecture featuring 1120 stream processing units for a 1.6 teraFlops of compute power. It uses GDDR5 memory and PCI Express 2.1 x16 bus interface. The HD6990M supports DirectX 11, AMD Eyefinity multi-display technology, Blu-ray 3D, stereoscopic 3D display/glasses, and OpenGL 4.1. The processor has integrated HD audio controller.
AMD’s HD6990M supports up to 2560×1600 resolution via Dual-link DVI and DisplayPort and it also supports HDMI 1.4a and VGA outputs.
