Samsung announced its Spinpoint M8 internal hard drive for notebook, which consists of two 500GB platters to provide 1TB storage space. The 2.5-inch drive has a form factor of 9.5mm height to comfortably fit in mobile computing applications. According to Samsung, the high density was achieved by utilizing advanced format technology (AFT), which raises the data storage density per unit area, enabling efficient and convenient data storage.
Samsung’s Spinpoint M8 uses SATA 3Gbps interface and comes with 8MB buffer memory. It features EcoSeek and NoiseGuard for minimal noise levels; and a redesign of the overall structure that ensures enhanced shock resistance to protect the disk from physical fracture and data loss.
The Samsung Spinpoint M8 will be available for $129.
