Samsung and Google introduce the world’s first Chromebook, the stylish Series 5 “built on the principles of speed, simplicity and security,” running Google’s cloud-based Chrome OS. Samsung’s Chromebook has an elegant shape and a slim 0.79-inch body and a simple Titan Silver or White finish.
Powered by an Intel Atom N570 1.66GHz dual-core processor, the Series 5 packs 2GB of RAM and a 16GB mSATA drive. It supports WiFi 802.11b/g/n and comes with a 4-in-1 card reader, a 1 Megapixel webcam, built-in stereo speakers. The Chromebook has a 12.1-inch LED-backlit display. Its 6-cell battery provides up to 8.5 hours of use.
The Samsung Series 5 3G Arctic White (model XE500C21-H01US) and Series 5 Titan Silver (model XE500C21-A03US) will be available on 15 June for $499.99 and $429.99, respectively.
