Sony announced two new compact Android smartphones, the Xperia mini and the Xperia mini pro, building on the success of X10 mini X10 mini pro. These new mini phones are powered by 1GHz Qualcomm SnapDragon processor and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.
The Xperia mini and mini pro both feature 3-inch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine and 5 Megapixel camera with LED flash, 720p HD video recording. They mini pro adds a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a front-facing VGA camera for video chat. The new Xperia phones support Bluetooth, GPS/AGPS, DLNA and WiFi connectivity. They come with 2GB microSD card and support up to 32GB.
The Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro work with UMTS/HSPA and quad-band GSM/EDGE networks. Both phones will be available in Q3. The former will come in black, white, dark pink and blue while the latter comes in black, white, pink and turquoise.
