Japanese firm ZOOM, the company behind H4n audio recorder, Q3HD video camera, launches the new R8, a “Total Music Production Solution”. The R8 combines four production tools – Recorder, Interface, Controller, Sampler, in one versatile device.
The ZOOM R8, as a recorder, supports simultaneous recording of 2 tracks and playback of 8 tracks at up to 24-bit/48kHz resolution as WAV files. It includes UNDO/REDO function to cancel the last recording operation restore the previous state. The device can be used as a control surface for DAW transport functions and mixing operations. Its built-in sampler functions allow users to loop audio data on any track, play the pads in real-time and combine loops to create a performance for an entire song.
When connects with computer via USB, the R8 becomes a audio interface with two inputs and two outputs that allows you to record up to 24-bit/96kHz high definition audio. It can be used with the included Cubase LE software.
The ZOOM R8 comes with a 2GB SD card that contains 500MB of drum loops from Big Fish Audio. It is equipped with built-in stereo microphone and its rhythm machine includes 10 types of drum kits that use linear PCM audio samples. This Total Music Production Solution is priced at 34,650 Yen.
