Onkyo announced four new home theater systems – HT-S6400, HT-S7400, HT-S8400, and HT-S9400THX. The top three models come with Ethernet network capabilities for streaming PC audio and Internet radio from the likes of Pandora, Rhapsody, Napster, SiriusXM Internet Radio, Slacker, Mediafly, Last fm, and vTuner and provide compatibility with Windows 7 and DLNA. These three models also include Marvell Qdeo 4K video upscaling processor for use with upcoming higher resolution video display.
Onkyo’s HT-S9400THX is the top-of-the-line model that is THX Certified. The 7.1-channel system includes THX approved speakers. The HT-S8400 comes with a 7.1-channel slim floor standing speaker package with high-performance 41-inch high front speakers and the S7400 includes a more compact 5.1 speaker package. All systems have powered subwoofers.
The HT-S6400 will use a new 5.1-channel speaker set that includes a powered subwoofer and matching gloss-finished front, center, and surround speakers. These new speakers are made from a new, high- density resin designed for maximum rigidity and minimum vibration, and have elegantly curved shape. This speaker system will be available separately as SKS-HT690.
Coming in May, the prices are $1099 for HT-S9400THX, $899 for HT-S8400, $799 for HT-S7400 and $699 for HT-S6400. The SKS-HT690 speaker system is available for $449.
