Along with new Pulsar enterprise solid state drives, Seagate also announced two new enterprise hard drives, the Savvio 15K.3 and Savvio 10K.5 built to deliver high performance, reliability, and capacity for tier 1, mission-critical server and storage systems. These 2.5-inch drives use the latest 6Gb SAS interface.
The Savvio 15K.3 is optimized for ier 1 storage applications. It is avialable in 146GB and 300GBGB and offers 15000RPM spin speed. The Savvio 10K.5 10,000RPM drive comes in 900GB, 600GB, 450GB, 300GB. It is available with a choice of 6Gb/s SAS or 4Gb Fibre Channel interfaces.
Seagate‘s Savvio 10K.5 and Savvio 15K.3 both deliver a record reliability rating of .44% AFR/2 million hours MTBF. The former will be released in Q1 and the latter comes in Q2.
