Western Digital (WD) releases its 2.5-inch S25 and 3.5-inch RE SAS hard drives for enterprise applications. Both of them use SAS 6Gb/s interface. The WD S25 operates as 10,000 RPM and is available in capacities ranging from 147GB, 300GB, 450GB and 600GB. Available in 1TB and 2TB, the 3.5-inch RE SAS runs at 7200 RPM.
The WD RE SAS features Enhanced Rotary Acceleration Feed Forward (RAFF) technology, which includes sophisticated electronics to monitor the drive and correct both linear and rotational vibration in real time resulting in improved performance and efficiency in densely packed multi-drive systems.
The WD S25 is shipping now while the RE SAS is also shipping ow to OEMs.
