Rugged Notebooks, a company specialized on ruggedized portable computers, announced the Eagle series rugged notebooks for public safety, military and other demanding work environments.

The Eagle series is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor up to 2.8GHz, up to 8GB RAM and integrated graphics. The notebooks are drop/shock/spill protection tested to U.S. military 810F and 810G standards and feature a rubber Guard Protection System to help protect the LCD from shocks, a lock on the DVD Super Multi Drive to prevent accidental opening, attached port covers to guard against dust and moisture, and a sealed touchpad.

The Eagle has a 14.1-inch LCD display and gets up to dual hard drives. It supports Ethernet LAN, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n and optional Bluetooth. There is a Mini PCI Express slot for users to add 3G, GPS or WiMax module. Other features include 4-in-1 card reader, PCMCIA Type II slot, Smartcard reader, optional 1.3 Megapixel webcam, and RS-232 port.

The Rugged Notebooks Eagle Series starts at $1695.
