Hitachi announced the new Ultrastar C10K600, the industry’s fastest and most power-efficient, 10,000RPM, 6Gb/s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Enterprise hard drive. Designed for enterprise, the C10K600 comes with a dual-port 6Gb/s SAS interface and has 64MB cache memory for optimized read/write response time. The C10K600 comes in 300GB, 450GB and 600GB capacities.
The Ultrastar C10K600 feature average seek times as low as 3.7 milliseconds and the fast rotational speeds reduce average latency time to 3.0 milliseconds. It includes Advanced Power Management capabilities. Hitachi will also offer models with Bulk Data Encryption for hard-drive-level data security.
