Samsung 40nm 8GB DDR3 Modules Now in Mass Production

Samsung announced that it is mass producing 8GB SoDIMM and UDIMM modules for laptops and mobile workstations, which are based on 4Gb 40nm DDR3 memory. The 8GB 40nm module operates at 1333MHz and uses 1.5v of power, providing about a 67% savings in power consumption over 1.8V DDR2 and 53% saving over two 4GB DDR3 modules.

Samsung’s 40nm 8GB DDR3 is already used on Dell’s Precision M6500 with 32GB of Samsung 40nm-class DDR3, or four 8GB SoDIMMs and the Precision M4500 with 16GB of 40nm DDR3.
