Clearwire launches the new Rover brand, the first pay-as-you-go 4G mobile broadband service in the US for tech-savvy Gen Y customers. Along side with the introduction of the new service, Clearwire also unveils the Rover Puck portable WiFi hotspot and the Rover Stick 4G USB modem. Rover is priced at $5/day, $20/week, or $50/month for unlimited 4G internet usage.
The Rover Puck is a round-shape device supporting Clearwire’s WiMAX 4G service offering 3-6 Mbps download average download speed. It supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi standard and WEP, WPA, WPA2, and is able to share 4G connection to up to 8 WiFi-enabled devices.
The Rover Stick, on the other hand, is a personal 4G USB modem that connects any notebook, laptop or desktop to the Rover 4G Service. It is compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7 as well as Mac OS X-running MacBook and MacBook Pro.
