LaCie introduces the 12big Rack Fibre 8, a rackmount fibre channel storage solution that is ideal for creative professionals who need to work with multiple streams of uncompressed HD video. This new 12big solution features 8Gb/s Fibre Channel connection and dual RAID controllers supporting up to 1200MB/s with only 12 drives. It has four 8Gb/s FC ports for direct connection to post-production workstations running demanding software like Final Cut Pro and Autodesk Smoke.
The 12big Rack Fibre 8 comes with 12 individually tested enterprise class hard drives, with either SATA or SAS interface, and supports six RAID modes for data protection – including 5, 50, and 6 – and up to 120TB capacity. It is also capable of managing a mixed arrangement of SAS and SATA hard drives. In addition to its 12 hot-swappable disks, the 12big Rack Fibre 8 includes two power supplies and two hot-swappable cooling units.
The LaCie 12big Rack Fibre 8 works with PC, Mac and Linux systems. It supports all standard SAN file systems, including Stornext, Xsan, and metaSAN, and is Storage Bridge Bay (SBB) compliant for SAN advancement. For enterprise organizations that require fast data rates for high performance file sharing, the LaCie 12big Rack Fibre 8 can deliver speeds up to 2590MB/s with expansion units.
