Alongside the audiophile-grade CS-545, Onkyo also introduces the more powerful CS-1045 Hi-Fi mini component system. This new Hi-Fi offers a total output of 2 x 70w. It’s CD player supports Audio CDs, CD-R/RW discs as well as MP3/WMA files stored on discs and it uses 24-bit/192kHz Wolfson DAC (WM8718) for maximum audio fidelity.
The tuner/amplifier uses basically the same VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuit) technology and an excellent 24-bit/192kHz Burr-Brown stereo digital-to-analogue converter (PCM1796). Other than CD player, the CS-1045 also packs AM/FM tuner with RDS (UK version includes DAB tuner) and offers USB port for direct connection with iPhone/iPod.
The Onkyo CS-1045 comes with D-145 speakers that 2.5cm soft dome tweeter and 12cm OMF (Onkyo Micro Fibre) bass driver. It will be released in August for GBP700.
