Lite-On announced in Europe the iHBS212 12X Blu-ray Disc B(BD) writer. The device burns BD-R SL at 12X, BD-R DL at 8X and reads BD-ROM at 8X. Other than Blu-ray, the iHBS212 can also write DVD+/-R at 16X, DVD+/-R DL at 8X, DVD+RW at 8X, DVD-RW at 6X and CD-R/RW at up to 48X.
The Lite-On iHBS212 uses SATA interface and comes with 8MB buffer. It includes the SmartWrite for optimum burning speed, SmartX technology to adjust data extraction speed and the LightScribe for applying laser-etched labels. Lite-On’s 12X BD burner will be released in late-June 2010 for Euro 165.
