Panasonic announced its latest addition to the Toughbook line, the Toughbook CF-31, which is the “most powerful fully rugged notebook PC on the market”. The CF-31 comes with rugged certifications beyond MIL-STD-810G and IP65 and is ideal for any mobile professional facing extreme environments, such as first responders, military personnel, and field workers in industries.

The Toughbook CF-31 is boosted by Intel’s Core i3 or Core i5 (up to i5-540M 2.53GHz) processor, 2GB of RAM (max 8GB), 160GB/250GB hard drive and dedicated ATI Radeon HD5650 graphics card. It gets a 13.1-inch XGA LCD touchscreen with Panasonic CircuLumin technology, allowing for full-circle viewability from the brightest sunlight to pitch darkness. You can expect Bluetooth, WiFi and optional WiMax and Gobi mobile broadband connectivity, ExpressCard slot, PC card slot, SD/SDHC card slot and HDMI/VGA output. Users may want to add webcam, GPS, SmartCard reader, fingerprint reader and backlit keyboard to this rugged notebook.

Other than those certification, the Toughbook 31 comes with a full Magnesium alloy case, a hybrid cooling system, shock-mounted flex-connect HDD with quick-release and is spill-resistant. It offers up to 11 hours of battery life. The Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 has been released on 12 May starting at $3799.
