Iomega unveils the StorCenter ix12-300r Network Storage Array, an affordable 12-bay rackmount storage device for small and medium businesses. Comes in a 2-rack unit (2U) form factor, the ix12-300r can accomodates up to 12 3.5-inch SATA II hard drives for 24TB of storage and support groups of up to 250 users.
The StorCenter ix12-300r is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz processor, 2GB of DDR2 memory. It supports RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, and 6 configurations and offers iSCSI connectivity and JBOD capabilities. The 12-bay storage device has four gigabit Ethernet ports and three USB 2.0 ports.
Iomega StorCenter ix12-300r utilizes the EMC LifeLine software, a fully-developed Linux operating environment and suite of applications that protects data and performs valuable business tasks above and beyond simple storage. Price starts at $4,999.99 for the 4TB configuration
