Addonics launches the new ADU2N1G, a Network Attached USB (NAU) adapter that brings your USB device to your home network. Once the USB device is on the network, any computer on the network can access the device as if it is a locally attached to the computer.
The Addonics ADU2N1G has a USB 2.0/1.1 connector and a RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet connector. It supports ually any USB device, including USB storage, printer, scanner, webcam, keyboard..etc and supports hot-swap.
Applications examples:
- Install USB speakers in various locations via the network without running addition speaker cable. Any computer on the network can take full control of the USB speaker to play music or as a public address system
- Install webcam at different areas via the existing network without running expensive cabling. Access the webcam from any computer on the network for security surveillance or any remote monitoring
- Attach USB camera to the network for remote video recording
- Share USB fax equipment over the network
- Access any USB storage over the network. Drive appears as a local drive to the OS, similar to iSCSI storage
(note that this is drive sharing and not the same file sharing as provided by NAS (Network Attached Storage) device. In drive sharing, only one user can access the drive at a time. The workstation that has control of the drive can enable the share of the drive or folder using the workstation OS file sharing feature.)
