Seiko’s “Future Now” is the watch maker’s project in developing watch based on Electronic Ink (e-ink) technology. Seiko has just announced the development of the world’s first e-ink/EPD watch with an active matrix system.
Seiko’s new e-ink watch offers a 80,000 pixel Active Matrix EPD display with 300dpi resolution and four-shade grey scale. The new technology is also power-saving, that the watch requires just 1/100th of the power needed to run a same sized display using the current e-Book technology.
Update: It is said that the Seiko will release the e-ink watch by the end of 2010.
