Dell launches the PowerVault DL2100 powered by Symantec Backup Exec for small and medium-sized businesses. . It is the only integrated backup to disc solution from Dell and Symantec and also the industry’s first and only integrated solution for faster disk-based backups and recoveries that lets you start protecting your data in just 18 minutes.
Two versions are available, the Value Series gets an Intel Xeon E5520 2.26GHz processor 6GB of RAM and two 250GB 720ROM hard drive while the Performance Optimized model pack dual E5520, 24GB of memory and up to 2TB of storage. They have a slim optical drive bay and a few PCI slots for expansion. Tape expansion is also available.
According to Dell, the PowerVault DL2100 offers up to 55% faster disk-based backups and 49% faster recoveries than backup with tape. It starts at under $8600.
