Garmin-Asus announced the nuvifone A50 smartphone, an Android-based device with multiple location technologies and apps. This new nuvifone receives its location (latitude and longitude) information from multiple sources including satellite, network-based and terrestrial sources offering users the best location and navigation experience.
The Garmin-Asus A50 is pre-loaded with Garmin navigation and maps and includes turn-by-turn, voice-prompted navigation, lane assist with junction view, cityXplorer maps, e-compass, as you can find on high-end Garmin nuvi navigation devices. The A50 features a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen, 3 Megapixel camera with geotagging, 4GB of internal storage, accelerometer and a microSD slot. Access to Street View in Google Maps and 3D landmark images are also available. It also supports on-device sync with Microsoft Exchange server.
The A50 comes with a custom Garmin car mount and vehicle power cable. It will be available in Europe in H1 2010. It will be on display at Mobile World Congress February 15-18, 2010.
