Seagate announced the Savvio 10K.4, the the world’s highest-capacity 2.5-inch enterprise-class hard drive. The drive has 480GB or 600GB storage capacity and offers 10,000RPM spin speed. It is the first HDD to achieve a 2 million hours Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) reliability rating.
The Savvio 10K.4 also features Protection Information for enhanced protection of data-in-flight, a self-encrypting drive (SED) option for the ultimate protection of sensitive data-at-rest and PowerChoice, which allows the Savvio 10K.4 hard drive to deliver improved power savings during idle.
This 2.5-inch enterprise drive comes with 16MB cache and is available in two versions, one with the 6Gb/s SAS interface and the other with Fibre Channel 4Gb/s interface.
