Guru’board introduces the Miniguru mechanical keyboard that is designed to keep you fingers always on the home row, which means the index fingers resting on the F and J keys. The keyboard is customizable and buyers can configure their own keyboard including selecting the mechanical keyboard switches, clicky, tactile or linear, they prefer. Users can also change the keyboard layout and store changes permanently in the firmware of the Miniguru.
The compact Miniguru includes also a “Pointing Stick” that helps keep fingers on the home row. It has built-in USB hub as well. The keyboard will be available in Q4 2010.
This is how the keybaord works:
Editing on a regular keyboard forces the right hand to constantly leave the home row for the cursor keys. Then find the home row again to continue typing. It takes time. And it’s not convenient.
The Miniguru puts the editing keys where they are in direct reach. On a second layer that is thumb-activated by the swirl keys. Fast and convenient. Only second layer keys are active when the swirl is pressed and there is a one key distance to the modifier keys and Enter.
