Sprint officially announced the previously leaked OverDrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot made by Sierra Wireless. The OverDrive is designed to create a connection between Sprint’s 4G network and WiFi-enabled devices.
Basically, the OverDrive connects to Sprint WiMAX 4G network and shares the connection to up to five WiFi devices, such as notebook, cellphone, iPhone, iPod touch, with an extended WiFi range of up to 150 feet. The mobile hotspot also supports Sprint’s EVDO Rev.A 3G network. It has a LCD display to show you battery life, connection status and other important information.
Sprint’s OverDrive also includes built-in GPS capability on 3G, a microSD card slot. It will be released on 10 January from Sprint for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a two-year service agreement.
