SanDisk ships SDHC and MS PRO Memory Cards with 64 Gigabit X4 NAND Flash

SanDisk ships the world’s fist flash memory cards based on the 64 Gigabit X4 (4-Bits-Per-Cell) NAND Flash Technology. Based on 43nm process technology, SanDisk’s 64-gigabit NAND flash chip is the highest-density single-die memory device in the world to enter production. The new technology holds four bits of data in each memory cell, twice as many as the cells in conventional multi-level cell (MLC) NAND (2-bits-per-cell) memory chips.

Currently, SanDisk is shipping 8GB and 16GB SDHC as well as 8GB and 16GB Memory Stick PRO Duo cards using X4 technology. We can expect more X4 Flash-based memory cards to come soon.
