NTT DoCoMo shows at the CEATEC Japan 2009 the Touch Wood line of concept phones, which are developed by Sharp and Olympus. These two Touch Wood phones are based on Sharp’s mobile phones and get a cypresswood body, which is made using Olympus’ 3D compression molding technique. One of them is based on Sharp’s SH-04 and the other is a bar-type touchscreen phone.
Thanks to Olympus technology, cypresswood casing is made to “maintain the kind of durability, and resistance to water, insects, and mildew that you’d expect from a tree”. The casing of each Touch Wood phones will be unique.
