Sirius XM announced the new XM SkyDock that is the first satellite radio controlled by iPod touch or iPhone and is the one of the first product to take advantage of the hardware control capabilities of iPhone OS 3.0. The SkyDock is designed to slot into a car’s cigarette power adapter and has a flexible arm that allows portrait and landscape operation.
The XM SkyDock hsa integrated XM tuner that is to be controlled by a free app from the App store. Users dock their iPod touch or iPhone to the XM SkyDock, they can then use the free app to control the XM tuner by utlizing multi-touch user interface of iPod touch/iPhone. The XM SkyDock also charges iPod touch and iPhone.
The XM SkyDock works with iPod touch, both 1G and 2G, and all three version of iPhone – 2G, 3G, 3GS. It will be available in Fall for $119.99.
