QNAP introduces two new 1U rackmount Turbo NAS servers, the TS-439U-RP and TS-439U-SP, for corporate, entry-level enterprise and data center customers. Both NAS servers have four hard drive bays that can fit both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard drives. These hot-swappable bays are capable of up to 8TB total capacity using 2TB drives.
Both TS-439U-RP and TS-439U-SP are powered by Intel’s Atom 1.6GHz processor, 1GB RAM and features up to 87.3MB/sec transfer rate and support for RAID 0/1/5/6/5+ spare, JBOD, Online RAID Capacity Expansion, and Online RAID Level Migration. They have built-in iSCSI target feature providing an affordable IP-SAN (Storage Area Network) alternative for business and include AES 256-bit Volume-based Encryption for data security.
The main difference between the two servers is the RP model includes a redundant power supply that will automatically kick in if the other fails while the SP model includes a single power supply. They will be available in August 2009.
