Hitachi announced the new Deskstar 7K2000 that is the world’ first 2TB 7200RPM 3.5-inch hard disk drive. The new 7K2000 has 32MB cache memory and uses 3Gb/s SATA interface. At the same time, Hitachi introduces the new 7200 RPM Deskstar 7K1000.C family that offers up to 500GB per platter and with 160GB to 1TB capacities.
Both Deskstar 7K2000 and 7K1000.C feature industry-standard 512-byte sector formatting, a patented ramp load/unload design to increase shock protection, Thermal Fly-height Control (TFC) and the Hitachi Voltage Efficiency Regulator (HiVERT) power management technology. The Deskstar 7K2000 provides 10 percent idle power savings over previous generations.
