Panasonic announced the Lumix DMC-FZ35 digital camera that offers 18X zoom, which is the successor of the FZ28. The 12.1 Megapixel FZ35 gets a 18x optical zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens with 27mm wide angle. It features the new POWER Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.) system that doubles the repression power of the MEGA OIS.

The Lumix DMC-FZ35 is equipped with the Venus Engine HD, an enhanced energy-efficient image processor. It offers the Intelligent Auto (iA) Mode that includes Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Exposure and Face Recognition. New creative options are offered by the new super zoom camera include Creative Movie Mode, My Color mode and High Dynamic Mode.

Panasonic’s new Z35 can record 1280×720 HD movies in AVCHD Lite MPEG-4/H.264 format for higher image quality. It offers a 2.7-inch LCD display and an HDMI output connector. The 18X zoom camera will be released in September 2009 in Black for $399.99.
