Western Digital (WD) ships the new Scorpio Blue 2.5-inch SATA hard drive with 1TB capacity which is the industry’s highest capacity 2.5-inch hard drive. The new Scorpio Blue is based on the 333 GB-per-platter technology.
The Scorpio Blue includes the WhisperDrive that makes it one of the quietest 2.5-inch hard drive; the ShockGuard for shock tolerance and the SecurePack to improve long-term reliability by ensuring the recording head never touches the disk surface.
The new 1TB hard drive has a 12.5mm form factor. It is ideal for use in portable storage devices such as WD’s new 1TB My Passport Essential SE portable hard drive. There is also a 750GB Scorpio Blue.
The 1TB Scorpio Blue (model WD10TEVT) and 750GB Scorpio Blue (model WD7500KEVT) are priced at $249.99 and $189.99 respectively, or you can get them as My Passport Essential SE portable USB drives for $299.99 and $199.99.
