Onkyo introduces the UP-A1 iPod/iPhone dock that is the first to use the company’s Universal Port (U-Port) connection. The UP-A1 can be connected with Onkyo’s U-Port equipped multimedia devices, such as TX-SR507 and TX-SR607 AV receivers.
The UP-A1 docks and charges iPod and iPhone and lets users enjoy media content stored on their iPhone or iPod directly through their home theater entertainment system. It works with iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch (1G, 2G), iPod Classic, iPod (4G, 5G), iPod Nano (1G – 4G) and iPod mini. It will be available in May for $109.
Another new U-Port device is the UP-HT1 HD Radio tuner that adds HD Radio reception to a UPort-equipped receiver. The radio will be released in July with a price tag of $159.
Lastly, Onkyo offers the DS-A3 ipod dock that comes without the U-Port. Instead the DS-A3 offers component video and analog outputs. It costs $139.
