Hitachi Maxell announced the HP-NC20.IPs, a set of iPod headphones that needs no battries. Instead of 3.5mm jack, the Hitachi Maxell HP-NC20.IPs connects using the iPod dock connector, which will provide power for it.
The Hitachi Maxell HP-NC20.IPs is a noise-cancelling headpones that can reduce noise by 20dB. However, as the Maxell HP-NC20.IPs relies on iPod for power, the playback time of iPod will be reduced by between a third and a half.
Available in Japan in 12 December, the battery-free Hitachi Maxell HP-NC20.IPs iPod headphones will be priced at $80.
