Western Digital introduces its Caviar Green series SATA hard drive that is eco-friendly. The Caviar Green drives offer an average drive power savings of 4-5 watts over standard desktop drives.
WD’s Caviar Green is available in 500GB, 640GB, 750GB and 1TB storage capacities. They have 16MB cache and comes with WD’s IntelliPower, IntelliSeek, IntelliPark and StableTrac (only for 750GB and 1TB models) technologies. WD offers also another 1TB Caviar Green with 32MB buffer cache.
The 1TB version of the WD Caviar Green that has 16MB cache is priced at $219.
