Western Digital (WD) announced its new Scorpio Blue 2.5-inch notebook hard drive with up to 500GB capacity. Based on WD’s 250 GB-per-platter technology, the Scorpio Blue series offers 500GB (model WD5000BEVT) and 400GB (model WD4000BEVT) 2.5-inch HDD for notebook and portable storage devices.
The WD Scorpio Blue HDD offers a 3 Gb/s transfer rate, 5400 RPM rotational speed. It has WD’s WhisperDrive technology for quite operation, ShockGuard technology for rotect the drive mechanics and platter surface from shock and the IntelliSeek technology for optimal seek speeds.
WD Scorpio Blue 500GB and the 400GB HDD are priced at $219.99 USD and $189.99 respectively.
