Japan University developed 42GB DVD

42GB DVD

The Tohoku University in Japan has developed a new technology to record up to 42GB of data in a single DVD disc. The 42GB capacity is acheived by recoding data in V-shape pits.

What’s good about this technology is that we can make our current DVD burner to support the new DVD format simply by updating the firmware of the drive or adding some components. Let’s wait and see if it can challenge Blu-ray.
