Some of you may really enjoy classic games, such as Super Maro, Zelda, Contra, Super Street Fighter II. If you still keep cartridges of these games, you may want to get Hyperkin’s RetroN 5 hardware emulator that allows you to play these classic games on a HDTV. The device provides five cartridge slots for NES, SNES, SFC, GENESIS, MegaDrive, Famicom and GameBoy Advance/Color cartridges.
Originally, RetroN 4 with 4 slots is planed, but then the company decided to introduce the RetroN 5 as it found that the fifth slot for FAMICOM can be added without hindering development cycle. The retro console supports both PAL and NTSC cartridges and aim to achieve 100% compatibility with all cartridges. To deliver better gaming experience, it can up-covert video signal for clear and cleaner images and will enhance audio quality using audio interpolation.
The RetroN 5 provides controller ports for NES, SNES and Genesis and allows users to use any controller for any system, meaning you can use a NES controller to play Genesis games. A Bluetooth wireless controller is included, which has a microswitch directional pad, Macro buttons, shoulder buttons, home buttons and 4 LED lights to show you the player number.
Other than standard AV output, HDMI output is also provided for HDTV connectivity. There is also a USB port for charging the battery of the wireless controller. Hyperkin plans to release the RetroN 5 in July for less than $100.
