TRENDnet has announced at the Computex 2012 the TPL-407E compact 500Mbps Powerline AV adpater with built-in power outlet. With a power outlet on the front of the adapter, you no longer lose an outlet using Powerline solution. The adapter is about half the size of similar Powerline adapters, according to TRENDnet. Other than standalone TPL-407E, there is also TPL-407E2K kit with two of the adapters.
Like other Powerline solutions, the TPL-407E connects you computers, game consoles or other connected devices to the Internet using existing electrical lines. Setup is easy – connect one adapter to a router and plug the other adapter into any outlet on the same electrical system, then you get instant network access. The adapters will connect to each other automatically over a secure encrypted signal. There is a Sync button to change existing encryption keys, for addition security. The TPL-407E also promises lower power consumption by up to 70% in standby mode, thanks to the embedded power saving technology.
The TRENDnet TPL-407E is priced at $64.99 and the TPL-407E2K kit at $109.99. They will be released in October.
