Skyhook Wireless has created more than 100 maps of various American cities by drive down every street in America’s 100 biggest cities and loaded their cars with WiFi detection gear, and GPS satellite receivers and precisely locate 5 million Wi-Fi signals in major American cities. Thus the software can identify each unique WiFi signal and linked it to the latitude and longitude data from the GPS system to produce a detailed map and pinpoint the location of the user.It then can offer advice about restaurants, shops and services in the area. Though it is not a true GPS system, it is stilla good way for people to find out where you are.
